About

RiceGum is the online handle of American YouTuber and Twitch streamer Bryan Le, best known for his roasting video series This Kid Must Be Stopped, in which he oftens mocks users of the video-sharing social network Musical.ly.

History

On September 24th, 2012, the RiceGum YouTube channel was launched. On October 2nd, the first video was uploaded to the channel, featuring footage from the game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (shown below).



On December 8th, RiceGum uploaded a video titled "THESE KIDS MUST BE STOPPED". The video gained over 7.5 million views, with 200,000 likes. The video helped gain RiceGum popularity, as quickly after, he gained over 800,000 subscribers. [2] Another frequent user who appears in RiceGum's videos is Jacob Sartorious, who blew up off the site musical.ly, but has also gained a following on YouTube. RiceGum's most popular video on Sartorious is "Jacob Sartorius Roasted ME AGAIN (DISS TRACK)", which gained over 6 million views, and 250,000 likes.



On Twitch

RiceGum has gained notoriety as a Call of Duty streamer on Twitch, which he's gained over 1,500,000 total views, and has 180,000 followers. [1]

AfroGum

AfroGum is a character presented as RiceGum's friend, and producer of his diss tracks. There are many AfroGum parody accounts, with the largest having over 50,000 followers[3]. In a video with popular YouTube pranker and vlogger, fouseyTube, a story was created, in which AfroGum gets kidnapped, and RiceGum and Fousey have to diss each other to win him over. The video gained over 2 million views, with 250,000 likes.



Travis Barker Incident

In June of 2016, RiceGum uploaded a video titled "The Next Jacob Sartorius (GIRL VERSION)". The video, which featured Alabama Luella Barker, daughter of famed drummer of Blink-182, Travis Barker, quickly gained hate from the family for portraying the daughter in a negative light. In an Instagram post by the drummer, he threatens to give him "the biggest L in history". Following posting, both Travis and his daughter privatized their Instagrams, due to backlash from fans of RiceGum

Travis Barker later sent a false copyright claim on the video uploaded, in order to take the video down. RiceGum replied to the incident in a skit titled "Celebrity DAD THREATENS TO BEAT ME UP", in which he pretends to be hiding from Barker inside a cave. The video gained over 2 million views after a week, with 250,000 likes.



Rape Victim Livestream

During the summer of 2016, RiceGum joked about rape victim's experience during a livestream (shown below). Following the incident, RiceGum was widely criticized for belittling the woman's traumatic experience.

Content Cop

On October 3rd, 2017, YouTuber iDubbbz posted a Content Cop episode deceptively titled "Content Cop – Jake Paul," which actually featured criticisms of the RiceGum channel (shown below). The video subsequently reached the front page of the subreddit /r/videos,[4] /r/idubbbz[5] and /r/h3h3productions.[6] Within 48 hours, the video gained over 12 million views and 201,000 comments.
