About
"Rich Minion" by Yeat, also known as Yeat X Minions or Minions X Lyrical Lemonade, is a collab and song performed by the rapper Yeat that will possibly be featured in the 2022 Minions movie Minions: The Rise of Gru. Its primary lyric is "I got money," and the song was first referenced on Twitter in June 2022 by Lyrical Lemonade CEO Cole Bennett. It was then used in an Instagram post that featured the snippet. From there, it went viral on TikTok as a sound, predominantly used in videos showing TikTokers eating the "Minions Meal" at IHOP.
Origin
On June 16th, 2022, Cole Bennett posted a tweet[1] that read, "im doing a trailer for the minions movie and i convinced them to let me use yeat for the soundtrack," earning roughly 30,200 likes in 10 days. The official Twitter account of the Minions posted a reply[2] to Bennett, simply being the "eyes" emoji. The reply earned roughly 6,100 likes in 10 days (shown below).
On June 17th, 2022, Yeat posted a snippet of the upcoming Minions collab to his Instagram account as a Reel (since-deleted). Before deleting the Reel, it received roughly 5,800 likes in one day as is evident by a screen-recording of the Reel reposted to the /r/Yeat_ subreddit[3] by Redditor itsKyrox on June 17th (shown below).

On June 17th, 2022, a screen-recording of Yeat's Reel was also reposted by TikToker[4] yeats_first_perc who earned roughly 198,600 plays and 25,500 likes in nine days (shown below, left). TikTokers started using the sound on June 17th, like TikToker[5] keenan.bills whose video earned roughly 467,600 plays and 88,100 likes in nine days (shown below, right).

On June 22nd, 2022, the Instagram account for Lyrical Lemonade posted a Story that leaked what appeared to be an upcoming trailer or promotional video featuring both the Minions and Yeat's snippet. The Story has since been deleted, however, it was screen-recorded and reuploaded to YouTube by the channel Underground Stars on June 22nd, where over the course of five days, it received roughly 56,100 views (shown below).
On June 25th, 2022, the Instagram[6] account of Lyrical Lemonade posted a teaser graphic for their collab with the Minions: The Rise of Gru movie, earning roughly 296,300 likes in two days (shown below, left). The Instagram post also included other "Yeat x Minions" imagery such as a photoshopped picture of a Minion as Yeat (shown below, right).
On June 26th, 2022, Cole Bennett posted a video on Instagram,[7] being the video featured in the precursor June 22nd Lyrical Lemonade Instagram Story. It showed a Minion sipping a Lyrical Lemonade juice box and flashing braces reading the company's name. In one day, the video received roughly 828,000 views and 266,500 likes (shown below).
Going into the remainder of June 2022, many TikTokers used the audio from yeats_first_perc's TikTok[4] in their own videos reacting to the potential collab and song snippet. Many TikTokers in their videos referenced eating the "Minions Meal" available for a limited time at IHOP as well as the concept of buying tickets for The Rise of Gru similar to memes made about Tickets to Joker, Please.
For instance, on June 24th, 2022, TikToker[8] ethan_jewell posted a "Minions Meal Review" video that received roughly 794,000 plays and 101,700 likes in three days (shown below, left). On June 26th, 2022, TikToker[9] unstable.egirl posted a video that stated, "7 tickets to minions rise of gru please," earning roughly 1.6 million plays and 464,600 likes in one day (shown below, right).

Many more reactions, memes and videos surface in June 2022 awaiting the official trailer to drop, as well as the movie that was projected to feature the song at some point. As of June 27th, 2022, the expected trailer or full scene including the song in the Rise of Gru movie is yet to be released.
