About

Gyaru Bulbasaur or Bulbasaur Gal, also known as Kogal Bulbasaur, is a moe anthropomorphism version of the Pokemon Bulbasaur depicting her as an anime school girl who follows the rebellious "gyaru" aesthetic. Gyaru Bulbasaur is inspired by Bulbasaur in the 2026 video game Pokemon Pokopia, who some players believe acts like a gyaru. Fan art depicting Gyaru Bulbasaur went viral in early March 2026 as Pokopia was released, with many pieces of art depicting her in a schoolgirl outfit.

Origin

On March 5th, 2026, Pokemon Pokopia was released for the Nintendo Switch 2. That day, fan art depicting Bulbasaur, a grass-type Pokémon, as a "gyaru" anime girl started appearing online. "Gyaru" is an aesthetic denoted by a non-conformist, rebellious style.[1]

One of the earliest examples of the trend was posted by Japanese X[2] user @echieichi_ that day, writing, "Do you know about Gal Fushigidane…?" garnering over 32,000 likes and 5,800 reposts in five days.
