The Shocked Aline Borel GIF, also known as the Shocked Black Woman Putting Her Hand Down GIF, refers to a reaction GIF, popular among Stan Twitter users, of a Black woman lowering her hand with her mouth open wide, as if she's screaming, shocked or "gagged." A popular version of the GIF shows the woman in a pink-red color filter. The woman in the GIF is named Aline Borel, or Aline do Borel, who was a Brazilian singer and internet celebrity, who passed away in 2022. The GIF is sourced from a video of Aline Borel singing a song by Sandy & Junior, which was originally posted to YouTube in 2018. The Shocked Aline Borel GIF became commonplace in memes on Twitter / X by 2025.

Origin

On March 18th, 2018, YouTuber^[1] Aline Borel Dos Santos posted a video of herself singing. She's seen wearing a blue dress in front of a white wall. The video received over 224,700 views in seven years. At the video's 1:39-minute mark (shown below), Aline Borel sings a long note and holds her left hand in the air, which she slowly brings down. The clip would later become the Shocked Aline Borel GIF.
