On June 18th, 2018, Twitter[1] user @NeverOnBrand posted a tweet that read, "I once heard Ska described as 'what plays in a 13-year-old-kid's head when he gets extra mozzarella sticks' and nothing in the world is more accurate." The post has since been deleted.
The tweet was reposted to the subreddit /r/WhitePeopleTwitter[2] on June 19th, 2018, where it gathered over 20,000 upvotes in six years on a post titled, "Pickitup Pickitup." The image was reposted to /r/SuspiciouslySpecific[3] on September 20th, 2020, where it gathered over 70,000 upvotes in four years.

On May 18th, 2021, Redditor[7] /u/ColonelOfSka posted an image that read, "I once heard ska described as the combined elements of Caribbean mento and calypso with American jazz and rhythm and blues, characterized by a walking bass line accented with rhythms on the off beat. Nothing in this world is more accurate." The Redditor posted the image crediting it to a person named "Ryan Andrews" in a Facebook group called "In Defence of Ska."
On June 11th, 2024, the Facebook[8] page In Defence of Ska posted a meme about how overdone the Ska Mozzarella Sticks tweet is in the ska community, gathering 200 likes in three months.
