Origin

On 2023, "Somali Core", or the Somali Core series was uploaded to TikTok by @hoodsirenix, with part three of the series uploaded on September 16, 2023 by the same user, and a reupload of part one and two by @hoodsirenix's other account, @suugostainedbaati also on September 16, 2023. The origin of Somali Core is unknown as all of the Somali Core series has been removed from the original uploader, @hoodsirenix. Parts 2, 3, and 4 are also removed, and no trace of reuploads is to be found, except for part one by user @hhuncho_huh on TikTok on October 23, 2023, and part two as a reaction video by @ttv_k_moneyyy1 on October 28, 2023. The original part one on TikTok has gathered over 100,000 likes and millions of views while part two and up has seen mediocre attention. The origin of the clips gathered into the compilation mainly comes from various Twitter accounts.

About

Somali Core is a compilation series of ethnic Somalis put into unusual situations that tend to be shown as comedic, with a strange popular TikTok song played in the background in every Somali Core part. Many of the clips featured are from various uploads from different Twitter accounts. In one notable example (which is the main profile image of this subject), a United Kingdom police officer, who happens to be ethnically Somali according to the cameraman, is approached by the cameraman with a Somali accent and said to him, "Wallahi inaudible, you got Somali fat nigga inaudible." The officer responds in question, "You alright man?", as the cameraman responds in a mock tone. In another example, a Somali man with a deep Somali accent is seen lying on the ground to protest for George Floyd during the George Floyd riots in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As the crowd cheers, "I can't breathe", he badly times the chant in his Somali accent while holding up the camera. Many of these clips are found on Twitter and are not recent uploads, as they have been popular to mainly the Somali community for a long time.

Influence

Somali Core is thought to have taken influence from Hood Irony as the clips featured are similar to the idea of comedic sketches of black people, which in this case is Somalis.
