The SpongeBob 2B Animation or Being Assertive, also known as 2B Sitting On SpongeBob, is an NSFW rule 34 crossover animation by DrBastardius that features SpongeBob SquarePants having sex with 2B from Nier: Automata on a bench in the mating press position. The animation was released in August 2021 and references a scene from the SpongeBob episode "Walking Small." It is based on artwork by Twitter artist Myahogao posted in 2020. The animation gained viral spread in May 2023 after a Twitter user shared it, inspiring reactions and memes that month.

Origin

On September 12th, 2020, Twitter^[1] user and artist @Myahogao posted a series of three pieces of artwork based on the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Walking Small." The first image (shown below, left and right) is an edit of an overweight fish sitting on SpongeBob on a bench replacing the fish with 2B, SpongeBob asking her nicely to get off of him. The second shows Plankton telling him to be assertive and the third shows SpongeBob mid-sex with 2B in a mating press position. The post gained over 9,800 likes in three years. On December 2nd, the original piece of artwork was posted to /r/blursedimages,^[10] garnering over 11,000 upvotes in three years.

On August 31st, 2021, animator DrBastardius uploaded an NSFW adult animation titled "Being Assertive" to Newgrounds,^[2] an animated version of the post by Myahogao, garnering over 84,000 views in two years.

Spread

The video gained spread over the following years. On September 18th, 2021, Redditor bargledpants posted it to /r/MemeVideos,^[3] garnering over 1,300 upvotes in two years. It was shared to /r/rule34^[4] on October 7th, garnering over 4,900 upvotes in two years.

On May 16th, 2023, Twitter^[5] user @amontrd_99 posted the full animation, garnering over 10,000 likes and 390,000 views in a day. The video inspired numerous reactions on Twitter^[6][7][8] that day, with many expressing shock over the content (examples shown below).

Later that day, content creator and Twitter^[9] user @twomad posted a low-resolution frame from the video without context, garnering over 11,500 likes in a day (shown below).
