About
Stop Thinking About Sex refers to a drawing of the Pokemon Gardevoir wagging her finger and saying stop thinking about sex, a reference to the abundance of rule 34 about the Pokemon character. The drawing, posted to Twitter in 2019, inspired numerous redraws and photoshops over the years depicting new, oft-sexualized characters in the same pose with the same phrase, often with exaggerated thiccness.
Origin
On June 23rd, 2019, Twitter[1] user @vilepluff posted a collection of fan art based on Pokemon characters including a cartoon of Gardevoir wagging her finger, bent over and frowning while saying, "stop thinking about sex," as if discouraging viewers from thinking of her sexually (shown below). The post gained over 500 likes before being deleted.
On November 16th, 2019, artist and Twitter[6] user @MDJ0e created a thicc redraw of the Gardevoir meme after seeing the original on either 4chan's /vp/ or /trash/ board. MDJ0e posted the original file (shown below, left) and a timestamped version (shown below, right) of the file to Imgur[7][8] on February 22nd, 2022, posting a tweet[9] about its origin a year earlier in March 2021.
Spread
On March 19th, 2021, an anonymous user of 4chan's /co/[2] board posted a template for MDJ0e's thicc version of the meme, writing, "Requesting this with Leggy Lamb." On March 27th, Twitter[3] user @Protoscene posted several versions of the meme using Dawn from Pokemon, gaining over 9,000 likes and 1,100 retweets in 11 months (shown below). Numerous users commented with their own versions under the tweet, including their OCs and other characters in the same pose.
On May 10th, Newgrounds[4] user Drawsputin posted a version of the meme drawing the Illuminati pyramid in the pose, gaining over 2,400 views in nine months (shown below).
On the same date, Twitter[5] user @PrelewdEvents posted a template for the meme, inspiring users to post redraws in the comments section, including one showing a thicc version of an Among Us crewmate saying "stop thinking about Amogus" (shown below).
