Everyone Is So Mean 2 Me 💔 refers to an ironic image macro of a callipygian man captioned with the phrase. Originally posted in 2019, the exploitable image macro inspired multiple redraws in the following years.

Origin

On October 16th, 2011, the gay pornography website ManAvenue posted a shower photoshoot of adult model Dalton (also known as Jon Selects).^[1][2] One of the photographs showed a behind shot of Dalton showering that highlighted his buttocks (shown below, left). In the following years, the image was actively circulated online,^[3][4] primarily in collections of erotic photography.

Prior to July 1st, 2019, the now-suspended Twitter user @johnny_jizzle posted two ironic image macros, one of them based on the photograph, captioned, "No one loves me and that's okay. Everyone is mean 2 me 💔" (shown below, center and right). On July 1st, 2019, Twitter^[5] user @dumgri made the earliest discovered repost of the image macro.

Starting in October 2019, a cropped version of the macro in which the top part was cut out gained spread. On October 16th, 2019, Redditor^[6] marcobmartinez made the earliest discovered repost of the cropped macro (shown below). On December 17th, 2019, Facebook^[7] page Ttony hawk skate board reposted the macro, with the post gaining over 390 reactions and 850 shares, with more reposts appearing on Facebook, Instagram^[8] and other platforms in early 2020.

Spread

On May 24th, 2020, Twitter^[9] user @napstachill posted the earliest known viral redraw of the image, a Wreck-It-Ralph meme that gained over 5,400 retweets and 28,200 likes in one year (tweet and image shown below).

Starting in September 2020, versions of the meme started to appear on various platforms including iFunny^[10] and Twitter^[11] (examples shown below), although none of the posts achieved viral status.

The format achieved major virality in mid-December 2020 when Five Nights at Freddy's and Among Us versions of the meme, posted by Twitter^[12] user @AstroMonster312 and another unknown user, went viral on social media (shown below, left and right). For example, December 14th reposts of the Among Us version by Instagram^[13][14] accounts grandmas.butt and goofed.goober gained over 25,000 and 9,000 likes in one year, respectively.

Starting in January 2021, redraws based on the image macro were posted across all major social media, with multiple versions going viral. For example, a Lady Dimitrescu redraw fan art tweeted^[15] by artist @Vales_art gained over 7,000 retweets and 44,600 likes in eight months. A toad redraw of the image tweeted^[16] by artist @jimmadseni on May 14th, 2021, gained over 13,200 retweets and 91,000 likes in seven months.
