Command & Conquer, often abbreviated to C&C or CnC, is a Real-Time Strategy (RTS) videogame series originally created by Westwood Studios, and later by Electronic Arts after their acquisition of Westwood. The series is popular amongst RTS fans, and has led to several fan videos and memes.

History

Command & Conquer was created by Westwood Studios after the success of their Dune Real-Time Strategy games for the PC that were released in 1992.[1][2] Their first game in the C&C series, which was first released for PC on September 26th, 1995, focuses on a conflict between the GDI and the Brotherhood of NOD, as well as a substance called Tiberium.[3] Another Command & Conquer series, which involves an alternative history of the Cold War between the Allied Nations and the Soviet Union, was called Command & Conquer: Red Alert and was first released for PC on November 22nd, 1996.[4]
