About
Forza Horizon is an open-world racing video game series developed by Playground Games and published by Microsoft Studios. It is a spin-off series derived from the main Forza Motorsport franchise developed by Turn 10 Studios.
Gameplay
The main premise of the series takes you in a fictional street racing and music event called the Horizon Festival takes place in each installment various locations around the world. The series takes the simulation racing elements from it's bigger brother, the Motorsport series and combines it with an open-world and arcade setting. In a usual Horizon installment features over hundreds of real-world, licensed vehicles from street vehicles to exotics to race cars and to off-road vehicles. All able to be brought and customized with the performance and visual parts and to the highly popular livery editor, thus building the population of the Forza painters community since Forza Motorsport 2's release.[1]
Playground Games
The UK-based development team consists of employees who formerly worked for other studios such as, Criterion Games (Burnout series), Slightly Mad Studios (NFS: Shift series), Bizarre Creations (Project Gotham Racing series) and so on.[2]
History
Forza Horizon (2012)
On October 23rd, 2012, Forza Horizon was released on the Microsoft Xbox 360. The first game of the series, with the festival being set in Colorado. In Horizon as you, a non-specific male character with no name drive to be best going up against other more popular drivers in Star Showdowns. During the last one, you meet Darius Flynt the main antagonist of the game.
Forza Horizon 2 (2014)
On September 30th, 2014, the first sequel to the spin-off series, Forza Horizon 2 was released on the Microsoft Xbox One and Xbox 360. The game takes place in Southern France and Northern Italy. Having the 360 version separately developed by Sumo Digital and reuses the FH1 game engine and no downloadable content is available for that version.
Forza Horizon 3 (2016)
The latest installment, the full game of Forza Horizon 3, had released on September 27th, 2016. Forza Horizon 3 has some breakthroughs for the Forza series it's self like having the ability to drive through water, working car horns that can be, replaced, an actual license plate that could say anything you want it to say (except for words that are normally blocked) and a first for the Horizon series its self that would be Forzavista. Even through Forza Motorsport 4 (as Autovista), Forza Motorsport 5 and Forza Motorsport 6 it hadn't been in any Horizon games until now.
The festival is set in Australia.It's the first game of the series to feature cross-platform play, with the game being available on Microsoft Xbox One and Microsoft Windows 10 systems for the first time of the Horizon series.
Reception
(The reception for the series has been extremely positive like for example, the first game in the series got 9/10 by IGN along with Horizon 2 meanwhile Horizon 3 as a score of 9.5)
