Garbage Pail Kids is a sticker trading card series created by the Topps trading card compny. It has an online fanbase and is also the subject of an upcoming documentary being crowdfunded on Kickstarter[1].

History

AL AW OF THE LITTER

The card company Topps had had great success for several decades with their Wacky Packages product parody series, and in the 1980s, Topps wanted a new non-sports series. Wacky Packages artist John Pound had created a painting for the 1985 series of a "Garbage Pail Kids" doll, and Topps asked him to create a new series based on it[2].

Reception

When the card series was released first in the 1980s, many schools "banned" them, for example, Claremont School[7] in New York, and schools in Orange County[8].

On the flip side, in more recent years, media outlets such as Juxtapoz[9] and Topless Robot[10] have given the series positive word.

The Cards

GarbagePailKids is a tradings card series made by TheTopps BubbleGumCompany. The reason it came it to place when Topps wanted a new Non-Sports card card series, And when one of the workers at Topps was flipping through some un-released WackeyPackages he saw the OriginalCard whitch was a parody of the famous CabbagePatchKids dolls. The 1st series was first released in 1985,Then re-released in 2010, and the newest re-release was in 2013. The series was a big success! But after series 8 was released something very bad happen to Topps, Mattel (The current owner of the doll brand) sued Topps for using the likeness of the doll in cards and making money of them. So they released series 9, And that was the series with the Cabbage Patch look. The original run ended with series 15.
Then in 2007 they had the ANS (All New Series) release come out, Almost all of the fans of the original series hated it, Lets just ignore this and skip to BNS.
BNS (Brand New Series) was released in 2012 to reboot the original series, It was a HUGE success for many reasons like, Nostalgia, VideoGame references, Pop-culture, And other great goodies. Because the great success it had two more series spawned from it. But the 2 newest series are really cool, They got 2014 Series 1 and Bukimi-Kun (which is just a Japanese version of 2014Series1 ).
2014 Series 1 is really cool and could have just been called BNS Series 4, but what are you going to do [Work In Progress]
