About
Heaux NFTs, also known as Heaux Archetypes or The Heaux Collection, is an NFT collection that was started in late August 2021 on the website OpenSea. The collection consists of 69 drawings of female archetypes with many of them referencing memes and nationalities. The collection follows similar aesthetics and principles popularized by prior NFT collections like CryptoPunks and the Bored Ape Yacht Club.
Background
Besides being a collection of 69 drawings of female archetypes, the Heaux Collection is advertised as a feminist crypto art collection that depicts women of all shapes, sizes and colors taking pride in their sexual liberation. This was stated in a tweet posted on October 11th, 2021, by the @HeauxNFTs Twitter[1] account. The tweet also mentioned that all the drawings are drawn by one, female artist named Art Gril whose Twitter[2] was tagged in the tweet.
On August 31st, 2021, the Heaux Collection minted its first two NFTs to the crypto-art market OpenSea. The NFTs are titled "The Travel Nurse Heaux"[3] and "Starbux Heaux"[4] (both shown below). @HeauxNFTs tweeted[3] about "Starbux Heaux" on August 31st, 2021, and received seven likes.
Developments
The Heaux Collection continued to mint its NFTs on OpenSea going into September 2021. According to nft-stats.com,[5] the Heaux collection sold its first NFT on September 1st, 2021. On October 21st, 2021, the Heaux Collection made the most amount of profit to date for a single NFT. The NFT (shown below) is called "Greek Heaux"[6] and sold for 1.33 ETH, which is roughly $5,500.
Heaux NFTs began receiving attention in memes most notably in November 2021, sparked by interest over a particular piece called "Big Titty Goth Heaux" that was both minted and sold on the same day, November 18th, 2021. The NFT (shown below) sold on OpenSea[7] for 0.69 ETH, which is roughly $2,800 USD. @HeauxNFTs tweeted[8] about the sale on November 18th, and received 133 likes over four days.
As an aside, it should also be noted that the Heaux Collection minted meme-inspired, female archetypes prior to the "Big Titty Goth Heaux." On September 10th, 2021, they minted "Trad Heaux,"[9] in reference to the Trad Girl meme, and on September 12th, 2021, they minted, "Gamer Heaux,"[10] among others.
People on Twitter reacted to "Big Titty Goth Heaux" after it sold so quickly. Twitter[11] user @ebruenig tweeted on November 21st, 2021, "think thats pretty much a wrap on western civ. president jinping, fire at will." Her tweet (shown below) received roughly 9,600 likes over the course of one day.
Instagram meme accounts reposted screenshots of a Heaux NFT tweet that was posted on November 18th, 2021, but later deleted. The screenshot is a tweet from the account that talked about how Heaux NFTs could be rented out for other users to have sex with as a way to mitigate incels' sexual aggression. Instagram[12] account @incellectuals8 posted a screenshot (shown below) on November 18th, 2021, and received 710 likes over four days.
Stemming from attention from the above, controversial tweet and the rapid sale of the "Big Titty Goth Heaux," Heaux NFTs inspired more memes, mostly on Twitter. As of November 22nd, 2021, the Heaux Collection has minted 40 NFTs out of the 69 promised and has made roughly 18.1 ETH, which roughly converted to $75,300 USD at the time.[13]
