About

Stripperella is an animated television series created by Stan Lee and aired on Spike TV in June 2003. The show follows the adventures of a stripper named Erotica, who transforms into the superheroine Stripperella to fight crime and protect the innocent while balancing her life as a striper. Clips of the show have been used for memetic content and fan art on X, former Twitter and Deviant Art.

History

Stripperella premiered on June 26th, 2006, and ran for one season,[1] consisting of 13 episodes.[2] The show was created by Stan Lee, following the story of a stripper named Erotica Jones who is secretly the superhero/secret agent Stripperella. The earliest online mention of the cartoon was posted on January 2nd, 2011, on YouTube[3] by user @zaval13, who posted a fan edit featuring some scenes of the show (seen below), which amassed more than 711,000 views and 2,100 likes in



Online Presence

Since its airing, Striperella has maintained a niche online presence with dedicated fan communities discussing episodes, character designs, and themes of the show. A clip showing the heroine trying to throw a bomb was posted on November 24th, 2024, on X[4] by @TheEternalEvil, which pays homage to a similar scene from Batman's 1960s show. The tweet (seen below) garnered more than 5 million views and 85,000 likes in a day.


Fan Arts

Striperella has inspired a variety of fan art, which is mainly shared on DeviantArt[5] and Tumblr. For instance, on December 15th, 2011, Deviant Art user @saon41 uploaded a drawing of secret agent Stripperella (seen below), which amassed more than 3,300 views and 39 favorites in 13 years.



On August 10th, 2019, Deviant Art[6] user @Tito-Mosquito uploaded a fan art titled "Stripperella meet Iris," which garnered more than 1,900 views and 12 favorites in five years.
