On September 12th, 2023, X[1] user @PopBase posted side-by-side images of Taylor Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce, writing, "Taylor Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce have been ‘quietly hanging out,’ The Messenger reports," garnering over 100,000 likes in two days (shown below). They also provided a link to the Messenger[2] article about the two hanging out, where an anonymous source is quoted as saying, "Taylor and Travis have been quietly hanging out. She saw him when she was in NYC a few weeks ago."

That day, X users began using the post's text as a phrasal template alongside images of Taylor Swift and other celebrities. For example, on September 12th, 2023, X[3][4] users @biceplor and @Maxerto posted versions of the meme pairing Swift with Alvin from Alvin and the Chipmunks and Hasan Piker respectively, garnering over 220 likes and 4,700 likes in two days (shown below, left and right).
That day, Instagram[5] page Memezar posted a screenshot of the original PopBase post with an additional comment reacting to it, garnering over 445,000 likes in two days (shown below).
