About
"That's not… the… ThornRing, is it…?" is a quote said by Noelle from the Weird Route in Deltarune: Chapter 4 in response to the player, through Kris, presenting the item in Noelle's bedroom. Starting in late January 2026, users on Reddit and Twitter have edited screenshots of other video games to present the quote in a different context, often paired with the word "Equip". There are also edits of the original screenshot itself that treat the quote as a snowclone.
Origin
In Chapter 2 of the indie episodic role-playing video game Deltarune, the player can pursue the Weird Route in Chapter 2, in which they command Noelle to freeze enemies with an IceShock spell to get stronger. This culminates in Noelle being equipped the Thorn Ring, a powerful accessory that inflicts pain on its wearer, and encasing her friend Berdly in ice with a Snowgrave spell, with him remaining unresponsive after Noelle wakes up. While trying to convince herself that what transpired was a nightmare, the player, through Kris, tells Noelle that it wasn't.
During the Weird Route in Chapter 4, Noelle invites Susie and Kris to her mansion to study for the group project. There, Noelle invites Kris to her room to talk about how the night prior, Kris deeply apologized for claiming the events of the Weird Route really happened, saying it was a prank. The player has the option of taking control of Kris and revealing to Noelle that they can read her thoughts and that the events of the Weird Route really did happen. Afterward, through Kris, the player presents Noelle the ThornRing, prompting her to say the quote, and forces her to equip it.
