"It snew" is a quote from a fan-made alternate take on the Weird Route in Deltarune: Chapter 4, based on an incorrect past-tense conjugation of the word "snow". Since it was first coined, it has become a common catchphrase in the Deltarune fandom.

Origin

In the Weird Route in Deltarune: Chapter 4, Noelle is traumatized by the events of Chapter 2, in which she was commanded by the player via Kris to get stronger by freezing the enemies of Cyber City, culminating in her freezing her colleague Berdly. When Kris and Noelle are alone in Noelle's room together, the player can take control of Kris and force them to scare Noelle by revealing that they can read Noelle's thoughts and that the events of Chapter 2 did occur. Normally, Noelle will ask Kris, through her thoughts, to say that "It didn't happen" and that "It didn't snow", to which the player can respond "It snowed" and "It happened".

On June 25, 2025, Tumblr user existencebringsonlypain posted an idea for a crackfic in which Kris forgets the past tense of snow and tells Noelle "It snew". Noelle responds with a flat what, which Kris reciprocates, aborting the Weird Route. Later that same day, existencebringsonlypain reblogged this post alongside a visual mockup of what the scenario would look like through the dialogue boxes. Within eight months, the post gained 9.8k notes, including 3.6k reposts and 6.1k upvotes.^[1] On July 13, the original poster, going by the name GeekTheSiren, posted a fanfiction based on this idea on AO3, in which after the scenario happens, Noelle chastises Kris for their failed prank.^[2]

Spread

The catchphrase did not catch on among the fandom until July 2025. On July 14, 2025, Reddit user Evillisa posted the image on r/Deltarune, garnering 3.9k upvotes within seven months.^[3] On July 22, 2025, Twitter user @Cuneyt_S_Sevi tweeted the image, garnering 464.7k views and 33k likes within seven months.^[4] Following these posts, "It snew" became a common catchphrase and in-joke among Deltarune fans, particularly on Reddit and Twitter.

On August 20, Gamebanana user CozyOrSomething posted a mod of Deltarune based on the meme, where the player has the option of selecting the option in-game to abort the Weird Route.^[5] On September 2, YouTuber CiblesGD uploaded a short promoting the mod, garnering 792k views and 25k likes within five months.^[6]
