The Most Important Thing Is the Soul refers to a video of a Russian man in a nightclub who is being interviewed on camera. He initially is excitedly saying "we want more boobs!" before the interviewer asks him "What's the most important thing in a woman?" and he replies "The soul. Boobs are fine, but the point is the soul."

Origin

On May 24th, 2013, VK user Mark Cenzura posted the clip to YouTube, where it gained over 2 million views (shown below).

Spread

On October 20th, 2014, the video was posted to Reddit's /r/videos^[2] where it gained over 18,000 points. It was posted to the same subreddit on March 19th, 2017,^[3] gaining 10,000 points. On September 19th, 2016, YouTuber LimePG uploaded a parody of the video that added the track "Una Mattina" by Ludovico Einaud to the man's more tender phrases, gaining over 304,000 views (shown below, left). On November 12th, 2017, YouTuber Some Dumb Fag uploaded the same video but with English subtitles, gaining over 40,000 views (shown below, right).

Others began using the video in image macros. For example, on September 22nd, 2018, Redditor NoMoreNutz^[1] posted the clip in a Skyrim Skill Tree parody that gained over 250 points in /r/memes (shown below, left). On January 24th, 2019, an anonymous Imgur user posted a parody using the man in an anime argument, gaining over 250 views (shown below, right). On January 30th, the video was posted to /r/unexpected^[4] where it gained over 1,900 points.
