X[2] user @artyorwhatevs posted the earliest known notable tweet countering @stfvbro's claim, sharing an I Be Popping Bottles meme on August 5th with the caption, "There are no benefits to being a good person" / The pure unbridled joy of seeing people smile." The post (shown below) received over 164,000 views in three days.

In the following days, various X users made posts quoting and criticizing @stfvbro, with X[3] user @evanjmader sharing a smiling emoji with the caption, "you’re not supposed to do it for the benefits," on August 6th, 2024, and gathering over 400,000 likes in two days (seen below, left).
Also on August 6th, X[4] user @ataraxiabts posted a manga panel from JuJutsu Kaisen that read, "But that's how losers think," gathering over 170,000 likes in two days (seen below, right).
Also in early August 2024, various internet users posted memes about @stfvbro's thought process in writing, "There are no benefits to being a good person," joking about the kind of pessimistic and self-aggrandizing narratives one would have to believe to come to such a conclusion.
