Over the following decade, the tweet has been quoted to comment on morally grey characters and mock those who take a "both sides" approach to online debate. For example, on February 15th, 2019, Twitter user @joncstone^[3] posted the phrase to comment on a political commentator posing a hypothetical about students in England marching for conservative policies, gaining over 30 retweets and 270 likes in five and a half years.

On April 20th, 2020, Redditor fyrenmahlahzor posted the quote to /r/ENLIGHTENEDCENTRISM^[2] to joke about a different Redditor arguing that destroying "pro racist" and "anti racist" statues are equally bad crimes, gaining over 6,400 points in four and a half years.
