There Is Zero Difference Between Good And Bad Things refers to a tweet by Dril that has been widely repeated as a catchphrase to mock people taking a neutral stance between something thought of as obviously "good" and something thought of as obviously "bad." The tweet has been praised as one of Dril's most influential in the ten years since it was posted.
Origin
On June 1st, 2014, Dril[1] tweeted, "the wise man bowed his head solemnly and spoke: "theres actually zero difference between good & bad things. you imbecile. you fucking moron." The post gained over 31,000 and 67,000 likes in ten years.
Spread
Over the following decade, the tweet has been quoted to comment on morally grey characters and mock those who take a "both sides" approach to online debate. For example, on February 15th, 2019, Twitter user @joncstone[3] posted the phrase to comment on a political commentator posing a hypothetical about students in England marching for conservative policies, gaining over 30 retweets and 270 likes in five and a half years.
On April 20th, 2020, Redditor fyrenmahlahzor posted the quote to /r/ENLIGHTENEDCENTRISM[2] to joke about a different Redditor arguing that destroying "pro racist" and "anti racist" statues are equally bad crimes, gaining over 6,400 points in four and a half years.
On April 26th, 2023, Twitter user @csilverandgold[4] opined that Dril's post and his "racism dial" post "are legitimately two of the best thought tools for understanding contemporary American life from any source not just the internet," gaining over 290 retweets and 3,200 likes in a year and a half.
