About
This Was Orchestrated To Intimidate Americans refers to a screenshot of a Fox News report by anchor Tucker Carlson on the Libs of TikTok controversy showing Tucker next to an image of the gimmick account's logo over the news chyron, "this was orchestrated to intimidate Americans." The image was shared to TikTok on April 19th, 2022, and became the subject of photoshops shortly after where people swapped the artwork in the top right for humorous effect.
Origin
On April 19th, 2022, Tucker Carlson reported on the Libs of TikTok controversy surrounding Washington Post reporter Taylor Lorenz and accusations of her doxxing the account owner. At the 12:15-minute mark of the report, uploaded to YouTube[1] that day, the news chyron changes to read, "this was orchestrated to intimidate Americans" and an image of the Libs of TikTok logo is shown on-screen (shown below).
That day, Twitter[2] user @NikkiMcR posted a screenshot from the report, writing, "bruh what," gaining over 1,400 likes in less than 24 hours (shown below). Shortly after, Twitter[3] user @HattMumphrey commented under the post with a photoshopped edit of the meme, replacing the image with someone holding a bottle of Sunny D.
Spread
On April 19th, 2022, Twitter[4] user @TheExiledDuck posted a template for the meme, gaining over 430 likes and 80 retweets in less than 24 hours. The post inspired a variety of photoshops in the comments over the course of the day, replacing the Libs of TikTok image. For example, Twitter[5] user @Molo_Lolo posted a version adding images of Tucker into the box, suggesting he was orchestrated to intimidate Americans, gaining over 80 likes in under 24 hours (shown below, left). Twitter[6] user @kingbullyo posted a photoshop replacing the image with the green M&M, referencing Carlson's outrage over the M&Ms Characters Modern Makeover, gaining over 40 likes in a similar timeframe (shown below, right).
That same day, Twitter[7] user @tinywienerbabe then posted a photoshop of the image replacing the logo with the Spider-Man Ass Slap meme, gaining over 3,200 likes and 240 retweets in under 24 hours (shown below).
