About

Toss Me My Keys refers to a viral video series made by Clayton Farris in 2015. In the videos, he asks his wife to "toss him his keys," but instead, another, unexpected object is thrown and shatters on the ground. It has since been copied by other users on YouTube and TikTok using different objects, as well as redrawn or reanimated using different characters.

Origin

The original video was posted on Vine sometime in 2015. The video involves Clayton asking his wife to toss him his keys, but instead, his wife throws a printer, destroying it. The Vine was reposted to YouTube by The Best Vine Compilations on April 15th, 2015, where it's reached over 800,000 views (shown below).[1]

Clayton later made other videos using the same formula, but with his wife throwing other objects, such as a Christmas tree, a copier, and a lamp (shown below).[2]

Spread

On August 8th, 2015, the short was reanimated by SammiFX on YouTube using My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic characters Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie and included in "Ponies: The Anthology V" (shown below, left). On December 24th, 2018, SFM animator Sandwichingaround made a video of the Christmas tree short using Five Nights At Freddy's characters. The video (shown below, right) has over 400,000 views.

The scene has also been recreated on TikTok. For example, on May 26th, 2018, user @Jasoncoffee posted a recreation that gained over 72,000 likes (shown below, left). On September 8th, 2021, user @brendandowns_ posted a recreation that gained over 11,000 likes (shown below, right).
