About
Truck of Peace, also known as the Islamic Truck of Tolerance, is a slang expression used in various online communities in "You Have Been Visited By" ASCII art and image macros when referring to motor vehicles used to kill pedestrians in terror attacks.
Origin
On July 14th, 2016, a Tunisian man drove a cargo truck into a crowd of people gathered in Nice, France, killing 84 and injuring an additional 202. Following the attack ASCII art depicting a "truck of tolerance" or "truck of peace" began circulating on 4chan,[2][4] FunnyJunk, Facebook[6] and Reddit.[3]

On July 17th, the internet humor site Starecat posted an image macro of a white truck with the caption "You have been visited by the Islamic Truck of Tolerance" (shown below).
On July 26th, YouTuber SyeTen uploaded an animated video titled "Sexy Justice Warriors and the Truck of Peace," in which an Islamic terrorist sings a song after running over French pedestrians in a white truck (shown below).
Over the next year, an additional 10 "Truck of Peace" animations were uploaded to the channel.
On December 21st, 2016, YouTuber Tree of Logic uploaded a video titled "The Truck of Peace Hits Berlin," discussing a terrorist attack in which 12 people were killed and 56 were injured after a truck drove into a crowd near the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Berlin (shown below).
2017 Lower Manhattan Truck Attack
On October 31st, 29-year-old Sayfullo Saipov killed eight people and injured 11 others by driving a rented truck into a bicycle path in Lower Manhattan, New York City. The following morning, CNN[7] reported that a note found near the truck claimed the attack was made in the name of ISIS. Following the attack, various posts made on 4chan and Reddit referred to the vehicle used as a "truck of peace."[8][9]
