Victor Van Dort Spraying Raid and Screaming refers to a series of fan art redraws depicting characters from various fandoms spraying a can of Raid ant and roach killer towards the viewer while screaming. The redraws are based on a screenshot from a Maya Winky ASMR YouTube video where she cosplays as Victor Van Dort from Corpse Bride and were popularized on X, formerly Twitter, in November 2023, spreading to sites like Tumblr that month.

Origin

On October 20th, 2023, YouTuber^[1] Maya Winky ASMR posted an ASMR video where she cosplays as Victor Van Dort from Corpse Bride. Around the 7:58 mark, Van Dort sprays a can of Raid at the camera in an attempt to get a bug off of an unseen third party's eyeball (shown below). The video gained over 2.2 million views in a month.

On November 8th, X^[2] user @_goodmorniing_ posted a screenshot from the video, writing, "New art challenge! Draw your favourite character or oc doing this……..," garnering over 24,000 likes and 6,100 reposts in a week (shown below).

The post inspired numerous redraws under its comment section and the quote-reposts over the following days. One early example was posted by X^[3] user @_edgar24_ on November 11th, 2023, redrawing Van Dort as Ash Ketchum from Pokemon, garnering over 730 likes in four days (shown below).

On November 13th, X^[4] user @Wirelessly__ posted a Chainsaw Man redraw of the meme, garnering over 50,000 likes in two days (shown below, left). On November 14th, X^[5] user @melu_077 posted a "Hatsune Miku": redraw, garnering over 14,000 likes in a day (shown below, right). That day, several Tumblr^[6][7] users began posting versions of the meme to the site.
