Wario's Tips For Summer is an exploitable image macro that features the Nintendo character Wario jumping into a pool next to a list labeled "1, 2, 3" representing his "three tips for summer." In memes, the list is edited to feature absurd tips and bad life advice. It has also inspired a series of videos on YouTube referencing the format.
Origin
The first image showing "Wario's Tips For Summer" may have first been posted on July 17th, 2018, by Redditor joshashsyd in the subreddit /r/ShittyLifeProTips,[1] gaining over 140 points in six years (shown below). This is the earliest known example of the format.
Spread
On August 7th, 2018, the meme template saw significantly more spread following a post in the /r/dankmemes[2] subreddit that gained over 4,500 points in six years (shown below, left). On October 27th, 2019, Redditor douchebagcassiemain posted an Epstein Didn't Kill Himself reference with the template in /r/okbuddyretard,[3] gaining over 600 points in five years (shown below, right).
The template also inspired video memes on YouTube. On August 10th, 2021, YouTuber Luke Correia posted a reading of one of the memes, gaining over 445,000 views in three years (shown below, left). On January 17th, 2022, YouTuber ClassyJavelinVA did the same, gaining over 19,000 views in two and a half years (shown below, right).
