About
WarioWare is a series of comedy-based microgames compilations. the series is co-developed, published by Nintendo & Intelligent Systems and is released on various Nintendo Handheld and Consoles.
Gameplay
WarioWare games are a collections of short and simple games ("microgames" or "minigames") that is presented in quick succession. Each of these microgames usually lasts about three to five seconds (in certain microgames, it can last longer than just 5 seconds), the speed and difficulty of the microgames will increase as the player progress. While the game gives you a maximum of four lifes, the player must complete those microgames in a rapid secession or else a life will be lost. Lose all lifes and it's gameover.
Boss games usually appears frequently, it is much longer and more complex than the other microgames; upon completing these, the player can regain a lost life.
Each WarioWare installments often make use of hardware features from console/handhelds for which they are released.[1][2]
Plot
The plots of these games center on Wario, his company WarioWare, Inc., and his friends in Diamond City who develop microgames for his company. Because of his greed, Wario usually refuses to pay his friends, despite the high success of the games.
Most games in the series include short stories in the form of cutscenes dedicated to each of the developers, telling about their adventures or everyday lives. These cutscenes are split into two parts, the first one shown before the developer's respective microgame stage, and the latter part appearing after the player beats the stage.[3]
