Origin

On March 16th, 2020, Instagram^[1] user monsieur.egg posted an ironic meme featuring an illustration of the protagonist Gregor Samsa from Franz Kafka's novella The Metamorphosis laying in bed after transforming into a giant cockroach, captioned "What zero pussy does to a mf" (with "mf" being an abbreviation of "motherfucker"). The post received over 4,500 likes in six months.

In the following months, the image received viral spread online. For example, on March 18th, 2020, Facebook^[2] page Stoney Montana reposted the meme, with the post garnering over 110 reactions and 280 shares in six months; on May 9th, Instagram^[3] user patiasfantasyworld reposted the image, gaining over 5,400 likes.

Starting in April 2020, the phrase "what zero pussy does to a mf" gained popularity as a way to mock someone else's posts or online profiles. For example, on April 17th, Redditor^[4] glacialanon posted a Coaxed Into a Snafu meme, with the phrase being used as a title (shown below, left), gaining over 920 upvotes in five months. On May 19th, iFunny^[5] user gayfellaz posted a screenshot of an alt-right Instagram profile captioned with the catchphrase, gaining over 350 smiles (shown below, right).

On July 28th, 2020, Tumblr^[6] user solarsyrup posted a meme which used the caption and gained over 18,100 likes and reblogs in two months (shown below). The post gained viral spread online with further reposts on Facebook,^[7] iFunny^[8] and other platforms.

Starting in August 2020, the catchphrase gained notable popularity both as a catchphrase and a mockery device.
