About
When It's Gone, It's Gone, It's Gone, sometimes mistakenly written Well It's Gone, It's Gone, It's Gone, refers to lyrics from Mariah Carey's song "It's A Wrap" that was used in memes on TikTok as an original sound in 2023. Meme creators paired the slowed + reverb version with two characters — one, wondering where something of theirs is, and the other telling them "it's gone." Although many of the memes were videos, the trend was also a photo slideshow trend on the app.
Origin
In January 2023, sped-up versions of Mariah Carey's "It's A Wrap" surfaced as sounds on TikTok,[1][2][3] with many of them earning viral usage, amassing millions of videos each. Starting on May 10th, 2023, TikTokers[4][5] within the app's anime community, often known as AniTok, started to make edits with a slowed + reverb version of the song. On May 15th, 2023, TikToker[6] @burburt posted an edit that used a slightly different version of the slowed + reverb version, gaining roughly 746,200 plays and 101,500 likes in 19 days (shown below).

Although it is unknown if TikToker[6] @burburt made the slowed + reverb remix used in their video, the slowed + reverb remix from their video became the "It's A Wrap" remix used in the eventual meme trend. The specific remix earned viral usage by other AniTok TikTokers[7] on May 16th. On May 17th, the remix gained its first-known non-anime-related usage, posted by TikToker[8] @elizlxl, who used the lyrics to portray the words of someone who'd missed half of a school year after being hospitalized. The video gained roughly 2.5 million plays and 316,700 likes in 16 days (shown below).

Also on May 21st, TikToker[10] @imnotkenneth used the sound to make a joke about Sasuke's left arm, gaining roughly 733,400 plays and 80,400 likes in 12 days (shown below, right).
