White Woman Jumpscare is a jumpscare parody that refers to a scene in Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach in which the security guard Vanessa catches the player, suddenly taking up most of the screen. The scene has been parodied under the name "White Woman Jumpscare," an X Jumpscare format, inspiring exploitable variations.

Origin

In Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach, released December 16th, 2021, the player can be caught by Vanessa the security guard, causing her to jump out suddenly at the player (shown below).

On December 18th, 2021, Twitter user @FunnyRatPoppy^[1] posted a GIF of Vanessa's jump scare, captioning it "White woman jumpscare," gaining over 7,000 retweets and 31,000 likes (shown below, left). On December 19th, 2021, Twitter^[5] user @RealYouTubeKids posted a GIF caption based on @FunnyRatPoppy's tweet, with the post gaining over 5,800 retweets and 47,000 likes in nine days (shown below, right).

Over the following week, the GIF caption received viral spread. For example, it was reposted to /r/whenthe^[2] by user kindofalurker10 on December 20th, gaining over 730 points.

The popularity of the GIF soon inspired parodies that altered the character appearing in the jumpscare. For example, on December 23rd, 2021, Twitter user @ashfrats^[3] posted a parody of the scene using a Warioware character, gaining over 1,800 retweets and 14,000 likes (shown below, left). On December 21st, user @blackratboi^[4] posted artwork based on the moment, gaining over 10,000 retweets and 68,000 likes (shown below, right).
