Xbox Series X Parodies refers to a collection of parodies of the Xbox Series X that mock the rectangular cuboid shape of the Microsoft entertainment console.

Origin

On December 12th, 2019, Microsoft released a trailer for the console Xbox Series X, which was announced with a 2020 release. The trailer received more than 3 million views in less than 24 hours.

Within minutes of the announcement, people began joking about the design. Twitter^[1] user @BSKtheKing tweeted an image of SpongeBob SquarePants looking at a three-dimensional rectangle. The tweet received more than 1,600 likes and 70 retweets in less than four days (shown below).

Spread

Many online joked about the cube design of the console. For example, Twitter^[2] user @itsTOZZE compared it to an image of SpongeBob SquarePants in a tweet. The post received more than 7,300 likes and 1,800 retweets. Others compared it to a building and a refrigerator (examples below, left).

The following day, Instagram ^[3] user @humanity.gone24 compared it to the World Trade Center and included a plane as a reference to the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks. The post received more than 8,300 likes in less than three days (shown below, center).

That day, Redditor ^[5] Dimensional_Shambler posted an image of a computer tower with a piece of tape that reads "Xbox" on the front. The post received more than 35,000 points (92% upvoted) and 880 comments in less than three days (shown below, right).

On December 14th, Facebook ^[4] user Jordan Evans posted a reaction image from the video game series Witcher in which the character Geralt called the Xbox "ugly." The post received more than 775 reactions and 50 comments in less than two days (shown below).
