Yin Die Zel is a nickname given to a man from Thailand (real name unknown) who resembles the character Dominic Toretto (portrayed by Vin Diesel) from the Fast And Furious movie franchise. Online, he's associated with other Chinese-like character parodies, such as Yi Long Musk, John Xina and The Wok.

Origin

On February 4th, 2022, TikToker^[1] @rockd_imports uploaded the earliest compilation video showing photos of a man that looks like character Dominic Toretto from the Fast And Furious series (shown below). On the same day, Facebook^[2] page Boosted Build Philippines reposted the video, where it gained more than 1,500 reactions and 4,932 shares in roughly two months.

Although his name is unknown, it appears the man is Facebook user "อาทิตย์ โมดิฟาย" (Eng. Sunday Modify). On August 29th, 2019, he^[3] uploaded a photo of himself that received only 59 reactions but more than 76,000 shares in two years (shown below).

Spread

On February 4th, 2022, Redditor^[6] thisisalreadyenough reposted the photo to the /r/WalmartCelebrities subreddit. The thread received more than 2,000 upvotes in two months.

The photos soon led the man to be associated with other Chinese character parodies. For example, on February 5th, 2022, Facebook^[4] user Ivan Ray uploaded a collage photo of Yin Die Zel with John Xina, The Wok, and Yi Long Musk to the "Only Pinoys" group. The photo received more than 1,400 reactions and 2,100 shares (shown below, left). On the same day, Facebook^[5] user Alma Marcela Gozo uploaded photos of various characters with naming a man that looks like Dominic Toretto as "Yin Die Zhel" to the "Kingdom Hohposting" group. It received more than 1,200 reactions and 5,200 shares in roughly two months (shown below, right).

On February 6th, 2022, Instagram^[7] page @sgfollowsall reposted one of อาทิตย์ โมดิฟาย photos. It received more than 11,800 likes (shown below).

Many Southeast Asian media outlets covered the image, including Mothership.sg,^[8] Says,^[9] Malaymail^[10] and more.
