About
You Are Trying To View Flash Content, But You Have No Flash Plugin Installed is a catchphrase derived from a broken webpage from BBC.uk about Samurai and what their battle cry used to be. The meme exists as a referential phrase typically inserted into pictures of samurai or Japanese culture, often as image macros.
Origin
On June 8th, 2018, Redditor Username8888[1] uploaded an image to the /r/SoftwareGore subreddit showing the BBC's official page on Samurai and Feudal Japan. Under the section labeled "How to be polite and show respect," the website begins to give an answer, but it is cut off by the need to have an Adobe Flash plugin installed. The upload, while not becoming a meme right away, accumulated 32,200 likes in four years (shown below).
Spread
The phrase slowly started to get used in memes about samurai over the following years, often showing them about to attack and shouting the catchphrase, as can be seen in the iFunny post by user fReE_MoViE__2018[2] on June 19th, 2020, which shows a samurai holding a sword and having the phrase photoshopped on top and bottom like a traditional meme format (shown below).
Later that year, on November 20th, 2020, Redditor CoolWali[3] uploaded an image they made of a traditional samurai riding a bicycle while shouting the phrase out as a battle cry (shown below).
