On February 3rd, 2024, TikToker^[1] @mainlymannie posted a video in character as Boss and CEO. At the video's 0:11-second mark, she tells the camera person, "You have been promoted! You are now one of my elite employees!" Over four days, the video received roughly 8.9 million plays and 991,000 likes (shown below).

Spread

TikTokers started using the video in memetic content on the day of its upload. For instance, on February 3rd, 2024, TikToker^[2] @michaelthenine posted a stitch with the video that showcased fan art based on Boss and CEO's shocked face, gaining over 890,800 plays and 60,300 likes in four days (shown below, left).

On February 4th, TikToker^[3] @ryanblackwell255 posted the video with text overlay reading, "Corporate giving that 0.7% bi-annual raise," receiving over 5.5 million plays and 621,400 likes in three days (shown below, right).

On February 6th, 2024, TikToker^[4] @whosrengokugen posted a similar video that joked about "telling my sister she's the best sibling just so she can get me something to eat," gaining over 11 million plays and 1.8 million likes in a day (shown below, left).

TikTokers began using the sound^[5] of @whosrengokugen's video, such as TikToker^[6] @siiriparkss on February 6th, whose video received over 95,000 plays and 11,400 likes in less than a day (shown below, right).
