Yuki Suou Wakes Up Her Brother refers to a scene from Tokidoki Bosotto Russia-go de Dereru Tonari no Alya-san, also known as Roshidere and Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings In Russian, in which the main character's sister, Yuki Suou, tries to wake up her brother from sleep. The scene grew popular in July of 2024 on Twitter / X as a redraw reference for risqué fan art.

Origin

On July 10th, 2024, episode 2 of Roshidere, titled "What is a Childhood Friend Really?" premiered in Japan.^[1] In the episode, there is a scene in which Masachika Kuze's sister, Yuki Suou, tries to wake him up by sitting on his body (scene shown below).

On July 14th, 2024, the Official Twitter / X^[6] account of Roshidere uploaded a GIF format of the scene. The post received over 13,000 reposts and 116,000 likes in one week (shown below).

Spread

Starting in July of 2024, the scene grew popular among artists on Twitter / X, who used it as redraw material for fan art. For example, on July 15th, 2024, Twitter / X^[2] user @SUICABAR72 uploaded fan art of NIJISANJI Virtual YouTuber Hoshikawa Sara based on the scene. The post received over 4,500 reposts and 63,000 likes in one week (shown below, left). The next day, Twitter / X^[3] user @nikiomemazoku uploaded Bocchi The Rock! POV fan art of Kita Ikuyo sitting on Bocchi. The post received over 2,600 reposts and 31,000 likes in one week (shown below, right).

On July 17th, 2024, Twitter / X^[4] user @Sakipoi_27886 uploaded Hololive virtual YouTuber Hoshimachi Suisei fan art based on the scene. The post received over 2,100 reposts and 24,000 likes in one week (shown below, left). The same day, Twitter / X^[5] user UkitaMilk uploaded fan art one of Genshin Impact's main character, Lumine. The post received over 2,900 reposts and 41,000 likes in one week (shown below, right).
