It's been three and a half months since Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field with cardiac arrest after making a tackle on Cincinnati Bengals player Tee Higgins, leading to a terrifying, life-or-death few hours that ultimately resulted in the cancelation of the NFL game.
Thankfully, Hamlin was able to make it through the worst of it in a matter of days and regained consciousness three days after the incident. On Tuesday, he finally announced his intent to return to football.

The injury was perplexing for many viewing, as the tackle didn't seem particularly vicious, and it led to questions as to how a fit NFL player could suffer cardiac arrest from a seemingly routine play.
At the time, medical professionals speculated it could be a case of commotio cordis, an extremely rare injury that can occur when the chest suffers an impact at a certain millisecond in a heartbeat's rhythm, causing the heart to stop.
For months, there was no official diagnosis made public, but on Tuesday, Hamlin officially confirmed that doctors made the diagnosis of commotio cordis.
Despite this, a familiar horde of anti-vax conspiracy theorists used the news to reiterate that Hamlin's collapse was somehow due to the COVID-19 vaccine, and everything that's happened since that day has been part of a "cover-up by Big Pharma."
Since Hamlin's injury, anti-vax theorists have attempted to push the narrative that the vaccine caused Hamlin to collapse. Some have gone so far as to say he has even died and his subsequent public appearances have actually been a body double in his place.

Hamlin has met with teammates since his injury and will likely work with them as he makes his journey back to football this year.
If the NFL and Big Pharma somehow managed to find someone who looks exactly like Hamlin who coincidentally can play the safety position at an NFL level and trained this man to fool the world in an effort to cover up that the "real" Hamlin died to due vaccine-related complications, one would hope they put an ounce of that effort into clarifying what is a catch.
