Dan Avidan, co-host of the mega-popular YouTube Let's Play channel Game Grumps, has been accused of grooming a minor, though the evidence for the allegation has left some unconvinced he's guilty of any wrongdoing.

The allegations began spreading online after a Reddit post from /u/NotBlarg on /r/rantgrumps, a subreddit dedicated to complaining about Game Grumps, claimed to have video evidence of Dan grooming and sexting a minor. The evidence was provided to /u/NotBlarg by an anonymous woman. It shows Avidan showing off a jacuzzi tub then telling the woman he wishes she was there so they could have sex in the tub. That conversation took place in 2017.

Further evidence shows an innocuous conversation Dan had with the woman when she was 17 in September of 2013. The following month, she turned 18, meaning the tub conversation took place when she was 22.

The accusations began trending on Twitter last night as the Reddit post spread, with some users condemning Avidan and others not finding anything wrong with his behavior.

Compounding matters is the fact that JonTron, himself a former Game Grump who left the channel under mysterious circumstances before getting embroiled in a racism controversy, appeared to partake in a little schadenfreude, referencing he and Arin Hanson's legendary playthrough of Sonic '06 that got cut short due to his departure.

This is not the first time Avidan has been accused of romantic misdeeds, but the allegations to this point have largely been related to "ghosting" women he'd had sexual contact with. An April 2020 post from /r/rantgrumps collected various stories to that effect, with user /u/SpecialAmphibian6 writing, "While what he's allegedly done obviously isn't illegal and your sense of morality may vary, his apparent actions stand at odds with multiple statements he has made on Grumps about partner fidelity and the 'grossness' of cheating."
