James Corden, arguably the Nickelback of television personalities in that he's extremely popular despite seemingly nobody liking him, has announced that he will leave his gig as host of the CBS late-night program The Late Late Show in 2023, causing much celebration on social media.

The Carpool Karaoke comedian made the announcement at a taping last night, stating that he will return to his homeland the U.K. after his seven-year stint in the U.S. He will continue to host the show until spring 2023 when he promises he will "go out with a bang."

While speculation ramps up for who could replace him, many took the moment to celebrate the end of Corden's run on late-night TV, where critics largely found him cloying and unfunny.

Some of Corden's critics weren't so jubilant, though. As Corden announced his intent to "see what's out there," several noted that the departure could free up Corden to star in more films, where his performances have been less than well-received.

The future is uncertain for Corden haters, but for now, they can celebrate that soon there will be one less screen on which to see him.
