Rumors About Chinese Influencer Xiao Xiao's Death Abound After Her Douyin And KuaiShou Accounts Are Banned Citing Parental Abuse
Rumors about Chinese influencer Xiao Xiao's death are starting to swirl on social media soon after the news about her Douyin and KuaiShou accounts being banned broke online.
The influencer is best known for a viral video where she can be seen wearing an elaborate hairstyle and kicking at a presenter in anger. Xiao Xiao's videos are primarily posted to her Chinese social media by her caretakers, however, her fans have long expressed worries about the disabled creator being harassed and abused in the name of content creation.
Xiao Xiao's Chinese social media accounts were finally banned in mid-December, nearly three years after her videos first began appearing on Douyin in 2020, with the websites citing "parental abuse" as the reason behind the ban.
TikToker @candiselin86, who often covers Chinese social media trends, broke the news about Xiao Xiao's ban and the reason behind it in a December 19th, 2023 video.

It might have been her popularity in the West that trigger the investigation of abuse and subsequent suspension of her accounts (since they are ran by her mom) #chinese #china #xiaoxiao #dobby #中国人 #中国 #netizen #ban #douyin #kuaishou #douyin_china ♬ Pieces (Solo Piano Version) – Danilo Stankovic
However, news about Xiao Xiao's social media ban fueled the rumor mill about the creator's death, with fans of the creator posting eulogies and expressing sadness over her death. The earliest known post about Xiao Xiao's death appears to be an X post by @lillianalanaaa, followed by a slew of TikTok videos also lamenting her "death."
