The owner of the beloved Shiba Inu Balltze, better known online as the meme Cheems, announced yesterday that the dog has made a full recovery after a battle with pancreatitis that started back in May.

Balltze's owner announced that Cheems had pancreatitis on May 19th in a post to Instagram. On May 24th, she then posted an update showing Balltze wearing a cone after an ultrasound.

In the caption, she shares that Balltze still has "mild pancreatitis" and was on a "special prescription dietary" to treat it. Two days ago, she posted another update announcing that Balltze has "finally recovered from illness" alongside three photos of the internet-famous dog.

Ever since the diagnosis, Balltze has received an outpouring of well wishes online from his fans and members of the Dogelore community where his meme initially spawned back in 2019.

Following the May 24th update, a post to /r/dogeore showing support for Balltze gained over 9,000 upvotes. A similar post went up following the recovery announcement, gaining over 8,300 upvotes in less than 48 hours. This support didn't go unseen by Balltze's owner, who thanked everyone for "the prayers and warm wishing" in her most recent Instagram post.
