Turmoil Abounds As Elon Musk Announces Intent To Vote Republican Next Election In Viral And Contentious Tweet
Elon Musk, still in the middle of buying Twitter (though some speculate it will fall through), decided to tweet out his intent to switch from voting Democrat, which he stated was formerly the "kindness party," to Republican because he now sees the Democrats as the party of division and hatred.
In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party.
But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican.
Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold … 🍿— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 18, 2022
As expected, the charged political statement garnered a lot of reactions, with a large amount of them being negative towards Musk and his sudden political choice as Twitter became inundated with angry responses and takes.
NEW: Elon Musk just said he has grown to dislike the Democratic Party because it is a party that supports “the unions.” Reminder, the richest man in the world doesn’t care about “free speech.” He’s mad that Democrats want to raise billionaires’ taxes & enact pro-worker policies.

BREAKING: Billionaire Elon Musk shows his true colors, announces that he will be voting for Republicans next election and whines that the Democrats are “overly controlled” by labor unions -- clearly insurrections don’t bother Musk. RT IF YOU THINK THAT MUSK IS A TERRIBLE AMERICAN!

There's a story coming out soon that he's trying to get ahead of. Hard to read this any other way pic.twitter.com/VTEsE461aS

However, not everyone was mad at Musk either, with several prominent Republicans and right-leaning outlets taking the chance to signal Musk as another in a, as they say, growing list of disenfranchised Democrats that are switching over to the Republican side.
Using the Musk drama as another opportunity to make a political joke or knock against the Democrats, many started to take shots at the Biden administration.
It makes sense why @elonmusk doesn't wanna vote for Democrats. Biden doesn't invite Tesla to EV summit, while Tesla being the largest EV manufacturer. AOC, Warren, Sanders say that Elon doesn't pay taxes whereas in 2021 he paid $11B in taxes. Hate mongering against Elon is CRAZY

.@ElonMusk says he will be voting Republican for the first time in his life the next time he votes.
Elon is not alone. It’s nearly impossible to stand by and vote for today’s radical Democrat Party.

Elon Musk said, Democrats are the party of division & hate. Who Agrees?

Poor Elon Musk has lost 49 billion in personal wealth since announcing his attempt to buy Twitter for 44 billion.
But of course, the narcissist doesn’t blame himself. Hateful Democrats are to blame.— Duty To Warn 🔉 (@duty2warn) May 19, 2022
What exactly Musk intended from this or what he meant by "now watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold" remains to be seen, though the tweet has certainly stirred up many on Twitter already.
