nah it just sounds like a bad idea in general, you wouldn't have the same control as just walking on the balls of your feet, and if it's wet sand then you might get stuck. it's better just to go barefoot there in general (mind you this is maritimer perspective)
also i don't think it's that hard to do it, i've walked on the balls of my foot the majority of my life, the problem is you're putting to much pressure on it and you develop pain there because of it.
