"Sus," as a shorthand for "suspicious," has become incredibly popular through memes in the community. As these memes and jokes spill out into the wider online social media sphere, Black queer gamers, like iamBrandon, have pointed out that "sus" has a deeper history as a homophobic slur. In fact, this revitalization in the word's popularity in Among Us seems to correlate with a rise in homophobic jokes on Twitter and TikTok using "sus" as a slur. Feminist Frequency was The Imposter.
