Certainly tries to paint her in a more positive light. Being regretful and not as bad as you might think. Executing POW soldiers is far from the worse thing you can do in wartime. Even gives a bit of hope as POV man also has his regrets.

Maybe the two can help each other through it… maybe keep each other close during the night terrors… maybe end up bringing a little life into the world instead of taking it away…
