Yamila Rodríguez is the leader of the Argentina women's national football team. She became a controversial figure when:

1. It was discovered that she criticized Messi during the 2016 FIFA World Cup, despite saying she never was anti-Messi. She was far from being alone in this sentiment (the singer in this video later apologised on Instagram to Lio Messi).
2. She had tattoos on her legs dedicated to Maradona, and CR7.
3. People found out she liked posts on Twitter that say that FIFA rigged the 2022 World Cup in favor of Argentina.

When Argentina was eliminated from the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup and she apologised on Twitter for it, people mocked her, saying things like "Go back to Spain" (a thing she said to Messi when he lost in 2016), and that FIFA conspired against her because she was a fan of CR7.

The intent of the author of this tweet is that social media has a tendency to virtue signal regarding topics such as suicides, but when they have the opportunity to bully the Twitter's Main Character, they WILL take it, even if she's clearly distressed over the criticism. He also asserts that there's a component of lookism in this bullying and that if she was prettier, she wouldn't have been so criticized by the people.
