Yung Joc Crying refers to an exploitable macro and reaction image meme featuring a viral black-and-white video of American rapper Yung Joc in which he appears bare-chested and crying with his hands clasped and looking upward. The clip was later used on TikTok and Twitter / X in January 2024 for a series of jokes using the catchphrase Praying On Your Downfall to express a feeling of extreme jealousy or desperation towards something bad that has happened.

Origin

On May 13th, 2023, American rapper Yung Joc uploaded an emotional black-and-white video on Instagram[1] of himself crying with his hands clasped and looking upward. The video (shown below) was paired with the music of singer Iniko's reimagining of Future's "Mask Off," which amassed roughly 887,000 views and 86,000 likes in a year.

The clip of Yung Joc crying was turned into an exploitable for POV memes on TikTok shortly after it was initially shared. For example, on May 13th, 2023, TikTok[2] user @bruthanumero3 posted Joc's crying video paired with the overlay text "POV: Pleading for my wife to take me back after cheating for the 64th time," which garnered roughly 1,600 plays and 45 likes in a year (shown below, left).

Yung's reaction went viral almost a year later on February 20th, 2024, when TikTok[3] user @segex17 posted a Girlfriend Lore meme using Joc's crying clip paired with the phrase "when bro gf be controlling him so bad you start praying on her downfall like this." The video (shown below, right) garnered over 4,9 million plays and 970,000 likes in two days.

X users have also used Joc's image as a reaction meme, such as user @Chillvro17,[4] who shared a still image of the rapper's crying face as a reply to the "Superman Legacy" score composer announcement on February 2nd, 2024. His tweet (shown below, left) amassed more than 55 likes in two weeks.

On December 20th, 2023, X[5] user @the16thhokagae used Joc's meme as a reaction to a debate about Sasuke and Ichigo being just strong anime characters with swords, to which he replied with the caption, "Ong. Free my boys from those lies." The post (shown below, right) amassed more than 20 likes in three months.
