I was tipped to outright deleting the trending bar from my sight around September when I saw a trending bar showing a clickbait-y phrase in plain English that led to a bunch of posts from Trump supporters. I had my trends location set to Japan, also never interacted or liked anything from American politics.
If this were politically neutral, then I would be seeing none of this, as I made a extensive effort not to be shown this at all, but someone with interests in the election season really wanted to be sure I was shown that.
