Wow so many topics to address. This is why I like this thread

@El SLinker

I’ve gone over this before. It’s Slinker. Not Sinker.

I’M SORRY I’M SO DYXLESIC!

@Brony Documentary

Well done to all those who donated and made that number…OVER 300 THOUSAAAAAAND. Congratulations. We can expect good things to come from this doco.

@Jackal Lantern

I’m sending friend requests to whoever I recognize off Zarathh’s friends list. If you get an invite from “I suck at this gam,” yeah, that’d be me. If you don’t, look me up. Here’s my profile.

Don’t forget to check out this thread too

@Explosive

Drinking’s overrated. Beer tastes like piss and getting drunk makes you do regrettable things.

HINT: There’s far more and far better drinks out there than Beer. Try Vodka, Bourbon, Whiskey or White Wine. Those drinks are much sweeter and nowhere near as bitter as Beer.

I don’t like Beer myself, it does as you say: taste like either dirt, piss or piss filled dirt but boy do I ever love Bourbon its just like cola.

But of course if you’d rather not drink at all, then that’s awesome. I encourage that

I’ve been drinking the moment it was legal to do so (18) AND I AM NOT PROUD OF IT.

…and done some shit too…

@Fifths

I’m 22, just out of college with absolutely no job prospects. If you’re expecting employment, don’t get a degree in philosophy.

Philosophy degrees….

AH

HA

HAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Why do so many people get these? There is no market demand for philosophers in the modern world and whatever demand there is is deeply oversaturated. It baffles me why people don’t pursue degrees that are relevant to current job demand

To anyone starting college:

-You can consider a computing degree like I did, that market is continually expanding and programmers are extremely valuable.

-There’s tons of food business out there, a chef degree wont go wrong.

-People who can operate machinery or even invent new ones are highly valued so engineering degrees are good too

-The world always needs more doctors. Medical degree’s are tough but they will pay off.

Consider what the world needs when you get a degree and you might not end up unemployed at the end. Apologies for ranting

(End Rant)

Alright guys, it’s the year 2040.

You go onto space wikipedia 3.0 and search for “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.”

What does the entry say?

Equestria is the largest nation of Earth occupying much of what was formerly the United States, Canada and Mexico. The nation was founded after the introduction of My Little Pony: Friendship is magic who inspired most inhabitants of North America to come together in peace, harmony and friendship. This movement was known as the great Friendship of 2025 and ended virtually all US initiated wars across the globe, ended conflicts involving illegal immigration and even spurred citizens of the former US to finally adopt the metric system. Although My Little Pony is a now a national pastime of the nation of Equestria, it’s roots began as a simple kids cartoon that preached messages of friendship which became very influential across the world to the point of forming a world power.

>Year 2040 topic

Most likely, the page would be a monster of a page; already, so many significant things have happened within the fandom. Looking up the page on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic would be like looking up “History of Europe;” imagine how much more stuff will be included in the history of the show and it’s fandom as the years progress. I imagine it will be a lot.

In edition to the main plot’s synopsis (the length of this will depend on just how many seasons this show lives on for), the fandom will likely have it’s history on the page as well, given how intertwined the fandom and show are, and will continue to be. If the authors of this article were to get very detailed, they would mention prominent Bronies, projects (the Brony Documentary), and successes over the years (there will be more to come).

If Equestria Daily still exists then (I can’t imagine it lasting if the show and the fandom died it’s peaceful death many, many years from now), it would likely be linked, and people looking at the page could go to it and look at all the things that have been posted in the past; it would be like touring an old ruin. I know the pony Tumblr blogs would have vanished by now, Tumblr delates accounts if they aren’t updated after a certain amount of time, so that wouldn’t be a visitable ruin for people to look at. Also, since all these comments we have been posting for two years or so will still be here (hopefully), old forums may be linked too, to show what Bronies were like.

Studies done on the Brony fandom would also probably be listed, to give an idea of what the fandom was like statistically. They would be nice reference material for those who want to maybe make a report on past cultures of the Internet; this culture would certainly be a flavorful topic to research.

That’s how I imagine the Wikipedia article would be like. I’ll enjoy reading it in 2040 to see if I was close.

I used to be something of a drinker, but it stopped being fun after I turned 21. Also, as I got older, the hangovers started to hit me pretty hard and really, it just wasn’t worth it anymore to drink to excess. I do like to enjoy the occasional Guinness though.

@the ungodly amount of money raised for brony documentary

You know, I can’t help but think this money could have gone somewhere better, like a cancer foundation or something. I’ll tell you what though, I bet we caught Hasbro’s attention.

2040? Let’s see, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic will be long gone by then. But just one mention of it, and you’ll unleash a wave of bittersweet nostalgia. It will be the symbol of the 2010s, the era now known as the the “Era of Harmony and Friendship.” It will forever become fondly remembered as a metaphor for those good old days. Of course, there will be new attempts to restart the franchise, but everyone gives up after the sixth generation, and agree to allow the memory of ponies to not be further tarnished.

A shrine. There will be a shrine dedicated to those brave soldiers who fought against the conformity of society, and embraced something as girly and childish as ponies. It will be a sort of Mecca for bronies, or at least, what remains of them. By then, bronies will have become a dying race, for most everyone has already moved past ponies (but with a fond nostalgia for them). But there will be those ones that just won’t budge. Ponies changed their lives, and gave their lives true meaning. They will dedicate the rest of lives to the cause of friendship, peace, and harmony as so espoused in the show. Society sees these undying bronies as sort of eccentric, but at the same time, respected and loved. It is them that will keep the show alive decades after its demise. It is them that will keep on the brony spirit.

Regarding ponifications:

If you couldn’t tell by my reaction to Zar’s image above (that’s from Bastion, btw), I love ponifications. It’s enjoyable to see two things I like melted together into one glorious image.

I’ve heard some people say on this thread that requesting something being ponified is disgraceful, but I would have to disagree. Of course, having the mindset of “Something isn’t complete until there is a pony of it” can be dangerous, but there is nothing wrong with being on the lookout for a crossover of your favorite video game or TV show. Like Explosives, I don’t see what the fuss is about.

Regarding drinking:

I haven’t drunk. I plan on taking that with me to the grave. It’s nothing against any drinkers or anything, it’s just the way I was raised.

@2040
Fields of science advanced dramatically as legions of bronies flooded into researching the technology to either discover or create Equestria.
We become a stronger force for human advancement than even Star Trek and Star Wars combined!
BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!

@Lasers on ponyfication
Personally, I love ponyfication.
The show’s art style is one of the major things that pulled me in and I think ponyfication is a testament to the style’s power.
I see it as being similar to The Simpsons.
It’s a very simple, yet highly expressive and infinitely customizable style that retains its distinctive flair at all times.

I can’t begin to understand people who say the ponyfication, or any other kind of fan-art, ‘ruins’ something for them.
If some random stranger drawing a picture on the internet is enough to make you turn away from something you like, you never really liked it from the beginning.

In short, PONIFY EVERYTHING!

@Ponification
I enjoy all types of ponification in terms of drawings, there are some really nice ones out there.
When you talk about it in the form of crossover fics though there tends to be a difference. Fics where the characters have been turned into ponies tend to be copies of the original story and aren’t as entertaining as fics with original stories. Fics where a pony from the FiM universe is thrust into the story and maintains their own personality are better. They may be a familiar story, but the way the characters handle the situations may be different, they also tend to be different than the original story to fit into the FiM universe.

@Drinking
Its fun occasionally. But I usually on feel the urge to when I’m depressed, which only acts to further depress me. Then I start fucking shit up and saying things I’ll regret. Serves at good experience though, especially for writing.

Alright fellow mushrooms.

We’re about 31 pages from Pony General VI. We’ve got time to discuss what title you want (i.e. RandomMan wants) and make a transition.

Briefly, we lock each Pony General thread that gets to 200 pages, because it begins to take up a large portion of the page when looking at all of the threads in a board/forum. By locking a thread and making another one, it doesn’t literally crowd out other threads. To give each thread it’s own flavor, we generally give each one a subtitle (e.g. We Just Don’t Know What Went Wrong,) have a moderator start up the new one, and have a forum moderator lock the last one when it hits page 200.

Don’t flood this thread to get to 200. Find your best subtitle related images for the beginning of the next thread (hoping for Twilight Sparkle, personally.)

Anyway, get your titles in mind, and if RandomMan smiles upon you, he might not laugh at your suggestion. He may even use it or something.

I like Troll Raipony. I really don’t know why.

you’re so right!
once a brony, always a brony. 20-30 years from now, bringing up MLP will be like bringing up an old classic video game or show. some people may not know it, but those of us who were here during this glorious internet age will cheer with each other and enjoy each chance to reminisce about such a fantastic experience. such moments will be like the reunion of old friends, brought together by a mutual love for an era long past.
regardless of what happens in the future, i’ll always remember these times.

on a related note, this upcoming tuesday is my one year anniversary for watching the show! according to some old forum timestamps i dug through, i saw Part One and Two of the S1 pilot midway through June 12th, 2011. i’m still looking, but i’m pretty sure i was done with the entire season within a week after that.

so how about you guys? when did you all become bronies? if you remember, tell the tale behind your first encounter, i love to hear stories! i’ll even tell mine if anybody wants to hear it XD

Man, I read an article suggesting at the enormity of space, and now I can’t get to sleep. Everything petty and human disappears under the sheer scope of magnitude that is reality. Galaxies, stars, quazars, black holes, nebulas, atoms, protons, quarks, space-time, relativety, entropy. As I lay in my bed, eyes wide open as I am crushed by the sheer enormity of this world I find myself in, I find that I want more than anything just to hug a pony.

All of the crazy weird shit in the galaxy and they haven’t discovered a planet full of talking pastel ponies to make thing all better.

Pony General VI: Stay out of our shed
Pony General VI: Raping is Magic

That’s all I got for now. And for those wondering, I picked the current title. Not to brag or anything.

We’re minuscule, true. But we are also enormous in the scale of things. Each atom might be a solar system, which would mean we are all galaxies, universes, or other massive forms of existence. We might be smaller than a quasar, but we are larger than a photon.

Physical size isn’t quite the point. It’s the fact that both realms of existence, the macroscopic and the microscopic, are just so much utterly bigger in consequence and scope than the petty concerns of our everyday lives. Just think of the massive number of interactions being had by countless subatomic particles in order for one to have so simple a thought as that of a pony, it’s ironic to the point that it hurts. This massive, bizarre, and ultimately pointless universe.

I swear to God, this shit makes me want to go run in the streets breaking shit with a baseball bat.

@Fifths
That right there is why I’m an absurdist
Sure, life is pointless in the grand scheme of things. With that being said it is up to the individual to construct meaning. That personal meaning is what makes life worth living.
Life is like some bizarre surrealist painting, and the artist died before he could say what all the symbolism meant. So meaning is up to the viewer. There is no real right or wrong answer.

In short, read some Albert Camus, it will make you feel better.

Something is definitely going right in that system!

the crazy thing for me is simply the concept of the odds behind everything that has ever happened. think about it for a minute. your mother was born with hundreds of eggs, and your father created what is likely in the billions of sperm before you were born.
so the chance of you being created, the chance that your egg and sperm found each other rather then any other, is ridiculously small. and that’s just one generation! don’t even try to think about the fact that each of your ancestors also had to win this ultimate game of luck. through billions of years of geological history and evolution, your ancestors fought to survive and reproduce, and at any moment during that process, famine, disease, competition for resources, or predatory animals could have erased your bloodline before you existed to consider it. the chance that you exist is so microscopic it’s laughable, it’s unimaginable!

every single person alive at this moment won the greatest cosmic lottery to ever grace the universe!

And now you know why I liked Carl Sagan

I admire minds that see the world and humanity for what it truly is: A tiny thread woven into a far greater portrait. Or as other have put: One drop of water within an enormous ocean. But rather than despair at the insignificance of that one thread in that huge portrait, he marveled at its role of being woven into it and what humanity can do fulfill it.

If you are interested in the subject, I recommend starting a new thread about it (Philosophy General or whatever you choose) I think I would really enjoy that kind of discussion.

Thinking deeply about it, humanity has an immense amount of potential to completely change the course of the galaxy. It’s in the nature of our race to be able to accomplish unimaginable feats if we work as a team (the magic of friendship, as it were). If humanity banded together under one flag, and set hard at work trying to advance technology, I have no doubt we could eventually make the vast void of space our bitch. It would just take some effort, some teamwork, and something humanity is bad at (forgiving enemies and becoming allies).

I know I saw their parodies long before I ever saw the real thing.

As for casting in Star Wars?
For sure, Rarity = Leia and AJ =Han.
I assume Twilight would be Luke, with RD as Kenobi (just to conform to the Rainbow-Dash-Always-Dies-Trope).
I think Fluttershy as C3P0 and Pinkie as Chewy would be hilarious.

Oh, and don’t forget the Fluffy-troopers!
With their tendencies toward dying in droves and their general uselessness, they would be a perfect fit!

Lasers, there’s a difference between how you like Celestia and how I like Luna. And with that difference comes a conflict of enjoying pics and how special they are to you. Once you reach that point you’ll understand why this is an issue for me. Until then, enjoy your high tolerance levels while they last…
Yeah, I sound like a fucking sap right now. I admit to being a sap. But one chuckle and I’ll blow your face clean off your head.

Its alright friend. At one point in time, we all feel like we’re liking something we shouldn’t be liking.

But think of it like this; what you’re liking is, I assume, the perfection that is Luna. She has a perfect body, due to god status. And that should be a compliment to her; bear in mind, a limit to how much to like something needs to be recognized. Wouldn’t want to be a creep, now.

That said, I don’t think you’re at the creep level. Right now, you’re just entering a different, alien stage of liking something.

So no, you may not like Luna like Lasers likes Celestia…at least you think you don’t. To each his/her own. But just remember, one of the things the fandom tries (not always succeeds in doing) to do is spread tolerance. Its okay to accept art that MAY BE A BIT saucy, but viewing it won’t kill you. Enjoy the skill put into making the art piece. After a while, you begin to appreciate it, not as FOUL, SACRILEGIOUS MATERIAL, but as ART.

Obligatory Luna picture.

Pyro and I had a little talk.

And by a little talk I mean I may or may not have taken my good friends ‘Logic’ and ‘Reason’ to him. And by my good friends ‘Logic’ and ‘Reason’ I may or may not mean my left and right fists. And by my left and right fists I may or may not mean my hands curled up into a form better suited for bludgeoning. And by bludgeoning I may or may not mean hitting heavily with a blunt object as to inflict damage. And by hitting heavily with a blunt object as to inflict damage I may or may not be referring to the aforementioned good friends ‘Logic’ and ‘Reason’ which may or may not be my fists.

The problem is solved with my UNHOLY! TALKING! TALENT!

Clubba….a few things:
1. I have had this love for a long time, even before you became a brony.
2. We all know I’m able to pummel you within an inch of your life
3. I wasn’t bullshitting when I said I love and cherish her. So either suggest some help or I will shoot the crap out of you with my chest canon. Which would you prefer, incindiary or slug.

OH SHIT HE MEANS SRS BUISSNASTAY I’M GETTING THE FUCK OUTTA HERE

But with all jokes and homestuck references aside i am sorta speechless about your affection for Luna. I do think it is kinda a cute.

But i guess it’s time that i share some advice on this. I sorta have the same thing over Katia Managan. I dunno why i just do i guess. So i am here to support you over your growing affection for Luna. We can take this conversation somewhere a bit more private if you want me to, Via PM.
