Cancelled Accounts General

Basically a place to discuss the fallen. The greats. The ones who didn't make it past the field of battle. This is especially useful for site veterans because you guys who have been here for years have probably seen many come and go, some good, some not.

To start us off, I would like to pay tribute to Fluffball. Fluffball was a very special user. He showed up to KYM out of no where and got Conversationalist within a week of creating an account. He made everyone laugh, but when we all needed him most, he left. Fluffball had been talking about leaving before, but no one really expected him to go through with it. The reasoning behind Fluffball's demise was that KYM was getting in the way of his offline life. Fluffball will be in our hearts forever!

I do have some questions, why did some of the more popular users like Chris or Sweatiekiller leave? Did I miss something, because they were important/significant members.

Seconding this post. I haven’t been around long enough to see these members active, but who were they, and why did they deactivate? I’ve seen them around in the old forums and entries a lot, especially Chris, who seemed to be one of the most popular members on the site before he deactivated.

Hm… off the top of my head:

Chris/Pimpabra, Sweetie Killer, and Nair/American Tanker.

Pimpabra was a pretty cool guy back in the day, and still one of those people who I immediately think of as "Mod" when asked that. (RandomMan, Bob, OGW, Jack, Jostin, and Fandroid being the other ones).

Sweetie Killer had that one big comeback a few months back but quickly vanished again. Admittedly, the community had probably changed too much for him.

Hoo Nair… that glorious unmovable everything-hating bastard. He was always good for a laugh. Is it weird that I miss him?

Oh, and then there is Negi… bleh, good times but I still haven't gotten over what has happened yet.

I miss X-singular

I miss Gamzee

I miss Thomas Nair

I miss Sweatie (And yea, Natsuru is right. Sweatie left because the community was too different from what he remembered. He admitted that to me before he left)

I don't really miss Chris

But the king of deactivated accounts I believe should go to IvanP91. Ivan is still around but he must be on his 50th account by now. He's gone through so many!

No! Not FluffleBall! It seemed like he was having an existential crisis, and I posted a wall-o-text to his page trying to give him some self-esteem. Might of back fired. Hope its not because of anything I did. =(

@Other 404's: Most anyone I really knew just left their account up. (The exception being Sweatie of course.) There are tons in my friends list that haven't been active in a while. (Katie C, Olivia G., Trick Lobo)

I still remember the Sweatie event. The feels when so many users were going to go down with him.

According to the image tag, in about 10 days, it's been two years since this happened.

Keeping your account active makes it so people can still contact you, kinda keeping a sort of fake obligation around your account that you must keep some status intact by replying to those people. Because let's say Chris didn't deactivate his account, how would you go on finding out who he is?

Deactivate your account, and you're rid of all obligations, not needing to check back for some random idiot who overappreciates the gone and forgotten. In the past they were a bother because deactivated accounts resulted in hidden forum posts, but that's no longer an issue. Plus an account can be reactivated at any time.

What I dislike more is people who didn't deactivate their accounts, but instead just come back after half a year or more for some random glory hogging. The forum costantly changes, and any status you had (read: didn't have) is no longer really present, so don't expect me to honor your return like I should care.

That said, there of course are people I didn't wish left because I enjoyed their presence here, but they're not a lot. Sweatie isn't one of them.

I miss Stoffe. I don't know why.

He was very funny on the KYM IRC, but I can't seem to remember any notable forum posts from him, at the moment.

Stoffe was active on KYM many years ago, then transitioned to IRC, and then left that.

Also Nair was banned.

The only other person I can think of right now is Ricky, as he was an okay troll that befriended me, but he was banned so I don't think that counts, does it?

Don't feel sad guys! Some very good users may have passed on, (not literally) but KYM has a bright future ahead of it with newer users who are just as cool as the old. This site is getting pretty well known as time goes on and more and more people are coming to it and are here to stay. Even though lots of the older members have left, there's still the old members who have stayed until the end and the rising stars.

Chris, Stoffe, and RPP are the people that really come to mind. They're pretty great, and I have them on Steam. I should probably chat with them some time.

I haven't been here long enough to holy shit I've been here for more than a year. Anyways there's only one cancelled account that comes to mind and she just reactivated her account a few days ago so why am I even posting. Welcome back Lea. And do your homework!

My question is why anyone deactivates. Even if you're planning on not coming back to the site, what's the point of doing that?

RM covered most of the reasons up above, but having spoke to Fluffball following his deactivation, apparently another reason he deactivated was because he suffered from a time-wasting exercise I'm sure all of us are familiar with: Going back through all your old posts and seeing how many upvotes they got.

Also, not many people frequent my wall, so I'll copypasta this block of text for those wondering about ol' Fluffy:

FOR PEOPLE WONDERING WHERE FLUFFBALL SUDDENLY WENT TO
I have here a quote from him explaining the situation: “The account was causing me some serious problems at work with slacking off. That and a lot of the times, I saw a lot of negativity on the site itself. When combined with high current stress, that really started getting to me. If work slows down again, or I learn to deal with the stress better, I may come back. Sorry for suddenly bailing like that, I appreciate the concern”

Frankly, he was very surprised by the amount of attention his sudden disappearance garnered, and feels bad about bailing without a word, but I think most of us can understand his reasoning. Either way, that account is gone, but you can contact him if you wish through this email address: flufflerobinson@gmail.com

It saddens me that a cool guy like FluffBall got to the point where activity on this site was bringing him stress in real life. I think that it's for the best that he's taking time off (possibly indefinitely) if it's going to help him get his life together.

On another note, I hardly knew TehRussBus, but from the posts of his I've seen, I really liked the guy.

Wasn't there a person named onionbubs? I saw him/her a few times around the site and seemed like a good person. Why did he deactivate? Oh, and also he's not exactly deactivated per se, but hasn't been active in along time; what happened to Shadowmancreator? He was active quite a few weeks back, but hasn't been here in weeks.

Onion Bubs?

You mean the guy that's been banned by several mods including myself for spamming KYM with furry porn and goatse all because someone made a negative remark on furries and he went absolutely ballistic over it?

I miss a great deal of people who've stopped posting / suddenly deactivated inexplicably here too and I don't even feel like I've been posting here for that long. But sometimes you just gotta get off KYM's wild ride.

I do feel like deactivation (even though it can be reversed) is kind of a drastic measure, though. Whenever I feel like I need to spend less time on this site I just make accessing it slightly inconvenient for myself by removing it from my bookmarks tool bar.

[In old guy voice too] Yeah. I remember that time when everybody cared about to not press that button, not by an even accident.

Blame /tg/ for giving furries a fucking bad name.
