Considering that furries are not a meme, is there no need anymore for adding photos? I’ve got tons of furry art in my personal files considering the fact that I am a furry and I could upload some clean furry art onto this site if I can go crazy with it. I feel that I’ll be flooding the site with useless material if I don’t ask permission first, so I’m asking if I should or should not. Thank you.

I don’t think there’s a need for all sorts of examples of furry art on this page. Just enough for people to understand the concept. If you had any sort of pics or comics that showcase popular aspects of the culture or that relate to the community as a whole, as oppose to just random pictures of furries, that’d probably be more helpful.

Of course, I’m not the one in charge here. Just chippin’ my two cents in for your consideration. :P

Well, the furry fandom, if you don’t already know, basically centralizes around anthropomorphic animals (Garfield being one of them). Even if the maker of the comic, video game, televisions series, movie, or whatever is not a furry, these kinds of things are still considered to be symbols of the furry community. You probably think that the furry community only makes up its own stuff like fursonas and webcomics, but that’s not entirely true. Look at Star Fox, that’s one of the largest furry-adored video games ever, yet the creators did not intentionally create it for the furries or are necessarily furries themselves. This game is also the reason why numerous furries have joined the fandom, so it’s iconic by itself. So you see, most of those childhood characters of yours like Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Whinnie the Pooh, Snoopy, and GARFIELD are furry-related and must be added to this section of the site. Trust me, I’m a furry.

yeah this page needs a serious clean up image wise, I propose removing the majority of the Disney characters, certainly Maus and other literature, this isn’t what furries are about, I mean Watership down are just rabbits that talk, same for charlottes web, we need to focus on the internet phenomenon, and keep it tied to more human looking characters.

Good thing you corrected yourself before I had to Mizzuru, cuz Disney movies and literature with talking animals is A LOT of what furry’s about. It’s pretty much How every furry gets introduced to the community.

@Taryn: There are multiple definitions of the word “furries”. Furries can be any anthropomorphic animal, or even any animal that possesses human-like characteristics. It can also mean a sexual fetish or maybe a person who appreciates anthropomorphic art.

in my opinion, otakus can be a fandom or not, for instance, in then article about them, i beleive it mentioned a smaller group who are the japanese equivalent of army nerds. these people can be classified as fans of really big guns, and therefore a fandom. same principal applies to the star wars otakus, the video game otakus, the cosplay otakus, etc.

Nobody is calling furry itself a meme, this is just a parent entry. It’s used to organize the database, as well as give the reader a better understanding of what furry is, as that is important when reading articles related to it.
Also, no new articles are necessary, as I mentioned, this is just to give the readers a very basic understanding of what furry is, therefore it does not attempt to define all of the separate demographics within the fandom.

I could go on like this for pages, but the point is that no, we don’t need another article, and that this is merely a parent entry.

I think that the possibility of fetishism occuring in this culture should be pointed out, as most people that hear the word “furry” on sites like YouTube and 4Chan immediately jump to the conclusion of a person having a fetish-like attraction to animals, therefore having a semi-connection to beastiality.
