Now, there's a hilarious new redraw format going around called "It's Pride Month, You Know What That Means" and it's going viral across social media. Here's where it comes from.

While the "It's Pride Month" meme only gained virality this year, its origins actually date back to 2022. That July, Tumblr user flashcs5 posted a Breaking Bad webcomic where Gus Fring tells Walter and Jesse, "It's Pride Month, you know what that means." Walter reacts with confusion, asking, "Do you want us to make like, gay meth?"

The post gained over 47,000 notes on Tumblr, but didn't go viral outside the platform until Twitter user @dcsh4_pvr posted it at the beginning of June 2023. The post gained over 57,000 likes in just a week and sparked a trend where artists began redrawing it with characters from their favorite fandoms.

Since going viral on Twitter, users on both Twitter and Tumblr have started redrawing the meme with their favorite characters. The new variations of the meme feature the exact same conversation as Fring and Walter had in the original version, with users changing the artwork and the punchline "gay meth" to fit the context of the respective characters.

As with other Pride Month-related memes, it's likely that this redraw meme could become a seasonal format, increasing in popularity every June for the foreseeable future.
